Dr Kevin Fong is a leading healthcare expert, having specialised in Anaesthesia and Intensive Care Medicine for the majority of his medical profession. Currently a National Clinical Advisor in Emergency Preparedness Resilience and Response for Covid-19, Kevin has worked at establishments such as the University College London Hospital and for the Kent, Surrey & Sussex Air Ambulance Trust. Having also held a Fellowship of the Royal College of Anaesthetists, Kevin is now a popular choice as a speaker for a range of events to share his expertise in healthcare and medicine.
After achieving a Masters in Astronautics and Space Engineering and a Doctor of Medicine from UCL, Kevin began his medical career as a Dive Medical Officer for Coral Cay Conservation located in Fiji. After this, Kevin returned to the UK and began working for the NHS as a Special Registrar of Neurosurgical Anaesthesia, ICU and Cardiothoracic Anaesthesia. He has also been a Special Registrar of Neurosurgical Anaesthesia for the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery and a Special Registrar of Anaesthesia for the Royal National Throat Nose and Ear Hospital.
Other prominent roles of Kevin’s include being a Fellow of the National Endowment for Science Technology and the Arts, a Visiting Research Fellow of NASA, a Fellow of Nesta, a Public Engagement Fellow and Innovation & Engagement Fellow for Wellcome Trust. Now a Consultant Anaesthetist for University College London Hospital, Kevin is a leading authority in the realm of healthcare and is looked upon as an inspiration. Outside of practising anaesthesia, Kevin has also worked as a TV presenter, having presented Superhumans and episodes of Horizon. He is also a published author, having written Extreme Medicine: How Exploration Transformed Medicine in the Twentieth Century, and wrote the documentary Space Shuttle: The Final Mission.
