With no sailing experience and just two months’ notice, Paula raced 35,000 miles around the world in the Global Challenge - The World's Toughest Yacht Race. She claimed that it was “extremely tough: frightening; freezing; exhausting; formidable; and there were 37 reasons why I shouldn't have done it. But I did. And it was the best decision of my life."
Paula is one of few people to ever successfully ski full distance to the South Pole, beginning her challenge at the Filchner Ice Shelf on the edge of the frozen Antarctic continent at reaching the Geographic South Pole at in less than fifty days. A trip that involved pulling more than 80kg across one of the most inhospitable environments of the world, Paula’s experience as a mountaineer and adventurer required a great deal of personal strength and much determination.
She found the energy and will power to climb for 12 hours every day in temperatures below –40°C, battling against severe wind chill and storms and being wracked by self-doubt. Thanks to her own personal strength and motivation, however, she successfully achieved this death-defying challenge.
Working as a motivational speaker, Paula discusses her experience as a sportswoman and adventurer and using her insights into the human psyche, perseverance and determination to offer advice to those looking to reach life goals and attain business success.
