How Does Generative AI Work?

Generative AI is a form of AI that creates content, and in order to make such content it uses a complex algorithm of machine learning. Learning patterns from existing data, generative AI uses such patterns to generate new outputs that mimic human intelligence.

The machine learning that generative AI uses is called Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs). GANs have both a generator that creates new content and a discriminator that evaluates data that forms the content that the generative AI makes. These two components work hand in hand to improve the content that generative AI is capable of creating, making the data that is created by generative AI indistinguishable from material created by humans.

Using machine learning allows generative AI to predict the next word based on previous word sequences when creating content, a continual process of building knowledge based on previous experiences. Once a form of generative AI is trained, it can then be fine-tuned to improve its accuracy and human-like capabilities.
