Intrapreneur

All of the world’s greatest businesses were born from an entrepreneur who was willing to take the risk of entering the often-complex business landscape. With many business markets now highly saturated, it can be hard to be innovative enough to forge a successful independent company. As a result of this, the term ‘Intrapreneurship’ has become more prominent. But the question is what is Intrapreneurship?

Contents:

What is Intrapreneurship?

Intrapreneurship is defined as an individual who exists within an established company, and instead of creating a new standalone organisation, they look to innovate their current roles and workplaces into territories not previously explored.

An intrapreneur does not start new businesses in competitive markets. Instead, they work within the already established structures of a company, and look for ways in which they can improve the current company they work in. Intrapreneurship does not pressure an individual with the same risks that being an entrepreneur does, instead they are free to be increasingly innovative with few financial restrictions.

Why is Intrapreneurship Beneficial for Businesses?

Intrapreneurship is a fantastic way of innovating change and there are many benefits that it has for business across a variety of industries. Such benefits are:

  • Increased profits – intrapreneurs will only pitch ideas that they think will increase profits for the company and expand operations into untouched, yet profitable, markets.

  • Increased creativity – intrapreneurship is all about innovation, and in order to make innovation happen creativity must be a priority. Intrapreneurs are continually looking for new and creative ways to expand their business, thus increasing the creativity of an industry.

  • Improved customer service – as intrapreneurs look to improve the output of a business, they are ultimately looking to improve the service that customers receive from a business. Increasing the services that a business provides is also in turn going to improve the experience that a customer receives.
